PACE: Pace will be determined by the flow of the group. Approximately 2 miles an hour.
AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum 18 years of age.
TRANSPORTATION: N.Y. Pickup by Penn Station in front of Molly Wee Pub (8th Ave & 30th St) at 9:15 a.m. NJ pickup at Panera Bread 1300 Route 17 in the Ramsey Square Shopping Center at 10 a.m. WE usually return to NY by 8 p.m. dependent on weather and traffic.
ADVENTURE: Let’s strap into some snowshoes and hit the trails of the Highlands Mountain Region for a snowshoe adventure! The Highlands are part of the great sweep of the Appalachian mountains that travels along the East Coast from Maine to Georgia. The precise trails or mountain range will be determined by weather, snow conditions, and size of the group. Expect an hour and a half ride out of the city before beginning our 5-7 mile winter trek. On snowshoes a 5-7 miles journey will take approximately three to four hours to complete. Afterward you will be transported to a cosy restaurant to have some dinner, drinks and telling of tall wintery tales.(food not included in dinner social).
Beginner?: No problem. Everyone will get a short class on snowshoeing technique, trekking poles, and gear setup before heading out. We love sharing our knowledge and skills.
SOCIAL: With all Living Adventure Tours, socializing and community building is part of our packages. After our outdoor adventure we head indoors for dinner drinks socializing similar to Aprés Ski. Expect to leave with possible new friendships with like minded individuals.
WHAT YOU GET: Round trip transportation, water, snowshoes, trekking poles, equipment usage instruction, guides, photos of you and friends, transportation to dinner social (food not included at dinner social)
WHAT TO BRING: Boots: Bring your best hiking or waterproof boots.Lunch in a light backpack. We supply water, but prefer to minimize wasteful plastic bottles, so please bring your own reusable water bottle. WHAT IF THERE IS NO SNOW?:If there is limited snow we will head up to the Catskills. Due to the high elevation there is usually snow this time of year. If there is no snow in the Catskills we will have a winter hike. Can’t promise snow.
